just showing off my mad uploading skillz

Having finally figured out how to put pictures on here, I'm going to subject yous people to looking at every single thing I think about buying.

In looking for a picture of these online for your viewing pleasure, I came across a lot of really disgusted commentary. Apparently one of the pairs Converse is doing (not the above) is a very close approximation to the ones he was wearing when he killed himself. Even I, with my broad and deep and open-minded definition of "okay to do," have to say that's probably, um, Not Right.

So, yeah, I guess I'll say a big fuck you to Courtney and not be buying any.

xoxo

Eeeewww.

But, you know, if those aren't the ones with the lyrics, wouldn't the lyrically appropriate ones feel ok?

Besides, maybe all the money goes to Frances instead...

Given what Courtney's likely doing with her inheritance, she probably needs all the financial help she can get. Well, and with that mother, probably lots of other help, too.

When I first read about his, it sounded like Converse was doing it in an "on our anniversary, let's honor the famous people who helped make our product an iconic fashion item" respectful way. But it seems like it's just another "let's have dead people shill our product whether they would want to or not, as long as their greedy heirs can be enticed into signing on the dotted line" tacky fest. Damn it.

You know how deeply divided I was on the Audrey Hepburn Gap commercials a couple years ago. :-)

BTW, I think all the commenters in your link you think Frances Bean looks like Courtney are on crack. Look at her beautiful eyes. She looks spookily like her dad.

"who think" not "you think"

Yeah, I have a real problem with those beyond-the-grave endorsers. I wouldn't mind so much if they just showed the dead celeb using some product they actually used anyway, but to a) use them to push a product they had nothing to do with or that never even existed in their lifetime or b) putting them into a cinematic/graphic style that is far too modern for what they actually worked with that I find really offensive.

And really, why should someone's heirs make money from something/someone they really had nothing to do with? Most especially when it's not the actual creative work of the originator, but simply the commercial use of their image?

Anyway, I agree with you, I don't see Frances Bean's resemblance to Courtney at all, but I also don't see it to Kurt either--maybe cause there's only one eye visible in that photo! But I often see resemblances far different than most people.

BTW, Wikipedia has several long and obsessive articles on Kurt and Nirvana, if you feel a need to feed your own obsession. ;)
