What's going on over in the National League, my friends, is why I love baseball. To be at the last day of the season with still no idea of who is actually going to make it into the playoffs is just a beautiful, beautiful thing. The drama. The angst. The fans in five separate cities glued to their TVs.
I love everything about it.

Unfortunately, none of those meaningful National League games are on TV here. :(
Wouldn't you think this would be perfect for ESPN? Just pick up the local feeds for each of the meaningful games and shoot them up on the satellite, no real production costs or anything and the real baseball fans will watch that, rather than early season football.
But since they generally don't want to compete with football, ESPN1 is currently showing some sort of show about boxing (not even actual boxing) and ESPN2 is showing a hunting show. Think they're really dropping the ball (and some ad dollars) today.
I know, huh? But your team won at least, even if you couldn't watch them do it.
Well, more my friend Dave's team, but I'll probably root the Phillies on as long as they last or until they come up against the Sox in the World Series.
One game playoff tonight! That'll be fun (and actually on TV, TBS of all networks). Though if the Phillies and Mets had both won or lost there'd have been two one day playoffs today. An embarrassment of riches.
And the Brewers got to play spoiler to the Padres on the very last day, which had to be fun for them. At least their very last game of the season was meaningful, even if they fell two games short of going to the playoffs.
