good writing, right here

You people know I do so enjoy a well-crafted metaphor. Well, here's Bill Simmons on Jason Bay:

"I can't look at Bay and not think of Manny. At least not yet. Bay is like the dutiful, pretty second wife who does everything right … and yet, I can't stop thinking about the soul-wrenching tramp who married me first and broke my heart. I wish it wasn't that way, but it's going to take some time."

I wish I had written that.

But don't you hope Bill Simmons is single? If not, either way it's getting late in the year to camp out on the porch.

hahaha

I hadn't thought of that, but I'm pretty sure he is. IIRC, in his book his wife has their first kid after (?) the 2004 season and he is gratified that he can now raise his child to be a Red Sox fan without feeling vaguely like he's committing child abuse. Unless I'm conflating him with someone else.

Is *married*, that is.

I wish, for the 4563rd time, it were possible to edit comments.
